With one week to go we decided to spend a few relaxing days at an all-inclusive resort in Varadero, a very touristy part of Cuba. In order to find a place to stay we rented a scooter for a few hours and, while driving along the beautiful coast, found Villa Cuba where we ended up staying a few days.
Being an all-in resort, we could get food, drinks, cocktails at any time of the day at any of the various restaurants and bars. There was entertainment for a few hours every morning, afternoon and evening and we spent a lot of time swimming at the private beach or in the big blue pools. We also took advantage of the resort's tennis facilities.
Although it didn't really fit in to our backpacker budget, we decided to do it anyway and play a round of 18 holes at the Varadero Golf Course. The price included a round of golf, a set of clubs and a golf cart to take us around the beautiful course which overlooked the clear blue sea.
Our feeling about Varadero is that it didn't quite match the vibe of the rest of our travels and so we decided to end our trip on a more cultural note and headed back to Havana for a last day of the true Cuban experience.
