On our last day we bumped into the South African guys we had met 2 weeks earlier. As we stood in the queue waiting to exchange some money we listened to their stories of the previous two weeks- they had split up in 2 groups, left their bags at the casa and headed out with nothing but their passports. For those 14 days they had walked around sharing their faith and had been looked after by the local people, receiving food, soap and a place to stay. We hope to hear from them when they make their way to Holland at the end of September. We spent the rest of our time walking around the historical city, watching the old American cars drive by.
At the Havana airport we bought a bottle of rum which ended up being taken away in Madrid, our transit airport during the security control. Finally, after many hours of travelling, we arrived in Dusseldorf welcomed by our friend, Willeke, and Geert's parents. We arrived at our home where the inside had been cleaned, the lawn had been mowed and flowers planted. The lounge and kitchen were covered in decorations, a big bunch of flowers on the table and the outside of the house covered in decorations as well as a banner which represented the end of our travels 'Welcome home Mr and Mrs Dolfing'!
